Cynthia is an interdisciplinary artist who exhibits her artwork nationally and internationally and works in digital painting as well as watermedia painting. She delights in the flow of paint and imagery in software as well as on paper, yupo, terra skin and Mylar. She is particularly interested in abstract/experimental techniques and sees painting as a personal journey of exploration.
Her earliest art education began when she minored in art in college while majoring in English. She taught high school English for 30 years. Later in her teaching career she studied art again by taking courses in watercolor, sculpture and photography at local colleges eventually becoming certified to teach art education. Along the way she also fell in love with textiles and spinning fiber. She began learning the process of spinning wool fleeces into her own yarn for knitting unique apparel. She has won numerous awards for knitting and spinning in the New England area.
She teaches art workshops in digital painting at R I Watercolor Society and Wickford Art Association
She has studied with local artists: Jerry Aissis, Karen Rand Anderson, Evelyn Bernal, Theresa Girard, Richard Harrington and Mary Wojceichowski as well as national and international artists: Don Andrews, Alvaro Castagnet, Katherine Chang Liu, Maureen Fain, Barbara Nechis, Bob Noreika and Lian Quan Zhen. She also co-runs a plein air group created by Elinor Thompson called PaintingAround. Visit the website.
